The FSU Career Center Announces New Director Myrna Hoover
The Florida State University Career Center is pleased to announce Myrna Hoover as the new Director effective Friday, March 16, 2012. Ms. Hoover holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Communication from Florida State University and brings 25 years of leadership and career services experience to this role. Most recently she served as The Career Center's Program Director for Employer Relations and Recruitment Services. In this role, Ms. Hoover was responsible for managing centralized recruitment programs to meet the needs of students, alumni and employers; supervising the execution of career events; managing on campus interviewing; overseeing campus and community outreach, and more. She directs facilities on both the main FSU campus and in the College of Engineering. In addition to serving as Program Director, Ms. Hoover assisted in the creation and implementation of the Placement Partner Program; a program that helps employers to establish a high-profile recruiting presence on FSU's campus.
Ms. Hoover, a leader in the career services field, currently serves as the Chair of the Employer Relations Knowledge Group for the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers, and is also on both the technology as well as the membership committee. She is also involved in the National Association of Colleges and Employers, and served as the President of the Florida Career Professionals Association. She has presented numerous times at national, regional and state associations. Ms. Hoover is also a Lifetime Honorary Member and past President of the Florida Career Professionals Association. She is also the recipient of that association’s 2002 Brownlee Award for outstanding service and excellence in the field of Career Services. She has taught courses in Introduction to Career Development, Business Communication, First Year Experience, Speech Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Psychology of Oral Communication, Public Relations and Interviewing.
In addition to Ms. Hoover’s professional accomplishments, she has been the recipient of numerous awards from the FSU Division of Student Affairs, College of Business, and Florida Career Professionals Association. The FSU Division of Student Affairs has recognized Ms. Hoover for her role as a “Student Mentor� and leader with the presentation of two "Star Awards" and two "Project/Program" awards for innovative programing. She also received the Exemplary Service Award in 1999 from FSU for her dedication to postsecondary education.
As Director of The FSU Career Center, Ms. Hoover will manage a staff of 24 and oversee the office’s career advising, experiential learning, and employer relations units. She is married to Paul Hoover, retired Bureau Chief for FWC, and is the mother of two sons who currently attend FSU, Justin and Tyler Unger.

Engineering Day & Seminole Futures Registration Now Open

Career Center Presents at Local Job Workshop

SEC/ACC Virtual Career Fair

Garnet and Gold Scholar Society Induction
The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society, launched in November 2010 by FSU President Eric Barron, aims to recognize exceptional students who realize that learning and engagement happens in and outside of the classroom. The program is developed from five engagement areas: leadership, internship, service, international experience, and research. Students who wish to be a Garnet and Gold Scholar must have experience in three of the five areas and complete a synthesis project. There will be 85 new members inducted into the society on April 18th.
Tallahassee Engineering Networking Night
The Tallahassee Engineers Networking Night is designed to introduce local organizations in the field of engineering to students and faculty at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
