Fraudulent or Scam Jobs
While the Career Center works diligently to monitor jobs, occasionally postings may occur that are fraudulent.
Here are some good tips to identify a job that is probably a scam:
- You must give your credit card or bank account numbers, or copies of personal documents such as your driver's license and/or social security card number.
- You must send payment by wire service or courier.
- You are offered a large payment or reward in exchange for allowing the use of your bank account - often for depositing checks or transferring money.
- You receive an unexpectedly large check.
- You are told to purchase items at local retailer with your own money and send these items through the mail or by UPS/FEDEX and you will be reimbursed later.
- You are told you will receive items in the mail or by UPS/FEDEX and are to repackage or re-mail to another address, often to a foreign country.
If you view a job posting that matches these characteristics, please contact the Career Center at 850.644.6431 or email@example.com.
