Experiential Certificate Program

The Experiential Certificate Program (ECP) allows all FSU degree-seeking students the opportunity to earn a certificate of recognition for engaging in experiential learning opportunities. There is no academic credit, cost, or tuition associated with ECP.

Criteria

  • NOTE: ECP recognition cannot be given retroactively. Students can only participate in ECP at the same time as they are participating in an experiential learning opportunity.
  • The experiential learning engagement must be a semester-long paid or unpaid career-related experience through which students develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting.
  • Students must enter into the experiential learning engagement with intentional learning goals (minimum of 3 learning goals).
  • Duties and responsibilities of the experiential learning engagement must be clearly outlined.

Benefits

  • ECP offers a structured, guided process for reflection and feedback on workplace learning, performance, and accomplishments.
  • Receive a Certificate of Recognition for your experience.
  • Provides an achievement to include on your resume and career portfolio.
  • ECP participants are eligible to be nominated for the Florida Association of Colleges & Employers (FloridaACE) and Cooperative Education & Internship Association (CEIA) Student Intern of the Year Award.

Steps to Complete the Experiential Certificate Program

During ECP, you will be required to complete a Mid-Semester Report, a Self-Evaluation, and a Program Evaluation. You will receive reminders via email when the deadlines are approaching for each requirement.

Your supervisor will also be asked to fill out a Student Performance Evaluation at the end of your experience. The Career Center strongly encourages you to discuss this evaluation with your supervisor in order to get constructive feedback regarding your performance.

When you successfully complete all steps of ECP, a Certificate of Recognition will be awarded.
