Describe your job search process. What were some challenges you faced or things you learned from the experience?
During the application process, I was provided a programming challenge to complete, which was difficult, but by applying all of my knowledge and going above and beyond the requirements, I outshined all of the other applications as a sophomore, including graduate students with more experience.
What are some takeaways from your part-time job? How will these help prepare you for the next step after graduation?
I realized that I can only truly apply myself long-term to experiences and opportunities that invigorate me and tie into my dreams and purpose. I enjoyed the experience, but I feel I have passed the point where the experience I can gain exceeds the opportunity cost in passing up other projects or opportunities directly related to my passion and dreams.
What advice do you have for students currently launching a part-time job search?
Assume you are qualified and apply even if you may not be, as we are prone to undervalue our experiences and abilities as undergrads.
