Describe the steps you took to obtain your internship.
I actively looked for internships through job listing sites such as LinkedIn and Indeed.
What were some of your responsibilities or duties during your experiential learning opportunity?
During my opportunity, I would write articles for the magazine's website, conduct interviews with clients of the agency, and write press articles based on clients' interviews.
What was a typical day like "on the job?"
I would be sent, at the beginning of each month, a list of articles and interviews I needed to conduct throughout the month, accompanied with the deadlines. I would work twice a week on those tasks and communicate with my boss.
What are some major takeaways from your experience? How will these help prepare you for the next step after graduation?
From this experience I learned to trust myself more. I'm more confident in my writing skills and my creative development side. I can now see how goals can be achieved when you put yourself out there and work hard to reach them.
Did this experience help clarify your career path? If yes, how so?
Yes. Before this experience, I wasn't sure what area I would work in after graduation, and I was afraid I wasn't good enough. Having a sense of how working in this field is and actually stepping into it made me realize I can do it, and I'm passionate about it.
