Why can’t I upload my Resume or Artifact (paper, PowerPoint, Excel document, etc.)?
Check the file name. If you have any characters other than letters and numbers (i.e., apostrophes), your item may not upload. Change the file name – taking out the special characters, then reload. File size for any documents cannot exceed 10 MB. There are several tips online for how to compress various types of files. You will not be able to upload a .xlsm file (Excel file with macros), as macros from untrusted sources may be harmful to the server that hosts Career Portfolio.
Why won’t the information I just entered save to my Portfolio?
If you copied information from one source and pasted it into your Career Portfolio, the entry may not save. Type information directly into your Portfolio in order to ensure that it will permanently save.
How can I share my Career Portfolio with others?
Click on the name of the portfolio you want to share, and then click Share. Create an access password and hit Save. The access password will appear under “Send Portfolio & View Access Details.” You can then choose between sending an email to your referred user, or you can select “Get Shareable Link” to copy and paste to wherever you would like.
I am getting an error message when I try to download the Career Portfolio to pdf.
This feature does not always work with Internet Explorer. Try using a different browser, such as Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
Why isn’t the access key I created working?
Access keys must be one word and cannot contain any special characters.
In the Skills section, I am having trouble clicking on the tabs for my Skills so that I can edit an existing Skill. Clicking on a Skill sends it to the bottom and re-orders the Skills incorrectly. What do I do?
This is currently a problem that is only occurring in Google Chrome. You can try a different browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. Another option is to click on the Skill and hold down your mouse button just for a second longer, making sure not to move your mouse. The selected tab will not jump down to the bottom of the page. While this does not fix the problem, these options provide a work-around while FSU ITS finds a permanent solution.
I am having trouble when pasting text from Word into the text boxes in my Career Portfolio. My work will not save and/or I receive an error message.
Microsoft Word often generates special characters when copying and pasting into the Career Portfolio text boxes. This can either cause you to exceed the 4,000 character limit or generate another error related to fonts. Below are some ways to correct this error:
- If you have saved your work in Word, you can copy/paste it to a program such as Notepad, remove any special characters (if necessary), and then copy/paste from Notepad into the Career Portfolio text box.
- Type your work directly into the text boxes in the Career Portfolio.
- Try using the "clear formatting" button (looks like a small eraser next to the U button) before attempting to save anything pasted directly from Word.
- When pasting from Word to the Portfolio, you can use Ctrl-Shift-V (or a comparable Mac shortcut) instead of Ctrl-V to copy the text over as plain text and without a lot of the extra characters generated by Word. In Chrome, you could also get this by right-clicking in the text field and choosing "Paste as Plain Text".
