Describe the steps you took to obtain your internship.
After taking a career development class through The Career Center here at FSU, I found an interest in interning for a company that could teach me the reality of what a job in the business field is truly like. As I try to find a more specific path to take through my major, I found that an interning job for a big company could help me better understand the roles that everyone plays within it and which would be most fitting for me.
If you used any career center services, resources, or events to obtain your internship, what were they? How did they support your application process?
I found that my career development class really helped me in creating a path to take in order to obtain a job of any kind. Additionally, I also learned how to find out what is important to me, which definitely helped and will continue to help me on my career development journey.
Describe some of your responsibilities or duties during your internship.
I am responsible for making sure I do my work on time and correctly. Communication is key, and constant attention to what needs to be done is also crucial.
What was a typical day like "on the job?"
Every morning I am required to retrieve the mail from a UPS delivery store, and from there I am required to sort the mail and deliver it to the proper places. I also work reception and take care of any organization and stocking tasks around the office.
What are some major takeaways from your experience? How will these help prepare you for the next step after graduation?
I found that The Career Center really helped me realize what my passions actually are. Without the career development class I took, I would have had a much harder time working through what my goals are, and especially how I was going to go about achieving them. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to be taught that concept in a structured and comprehensible manner.
Did this experience help clarify your career path? If yes, how so?
Yes. It helped me realize what I want to do after graduate school, and it helped me start my career path through an internship that could pose potential opportunities in the future.
